Elementary

Obviously I'm not the most consistent of internet bloggers and extremely inept at keeping to a schedule, anyone who would be crazy enough to follow my blog is in for a snails pace of updates.

As this is a show that's just finished its first season I feel now may be an appropriate time to give my two cents on this show for viewers who didn't give it a watch when it started its run.

Its gonna be a hard article to get through without making obvious comparisons to BBC's Sherlock which Elementary seems like a carbon copy of, so I'll start things off by saying "Yes, I think Sherlock is better, BUT I feel there are things Elementary does better", my quote isn't going to make it on the dvd case for season 1 but you could probably sum things up with that comparison. I feel that Sherlock excels at its characters, Watson and Holmes are both always fun to see interact and are enjoyable to watch. With Elementary though the character side of it is being held up alone by Sherlock,  Johnny Lee Miller does an amazing job updating the character of Sherlock to the modern era without the campy qualities of Benedict Cumberbatch's, though Elementary's Watson played by Lucy Liu is sadly forgettable and not too memorable, she has some fun scenes with Sherlock every so often but they're too few and far between. The quantity of episodes is one of the few things that really drew me to Elementary as it has 24 episodes in comparison to Sherlock's mere 6, and the plot in them is just as strong if not more so than Sherlock's.

To put it basic, if you loved Sherlock, you'll more than likely love Elementary and it'll keep you happy until the next series of Sherlock comes our way (if we're lucky), fans of the books may find a more faithfully depicted version of their favorite character, there are a few twists on the Sherlock story that may interest or offend die hard fans though, but I found these slight changes to be interesting adaptions of the characters that add new directions for the story to go down, with the twist in the finale being a good one, I won't ruin it for you but its a big twist on what you might expect.

Though if you've seen neither of the shows, GO GO GO WATCH THEM BOTH.
